Title: FEEDING A CITY WITH A SACK LUNCH

FOCUS VERSES…

John 6:14 ~ Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

This is WHAT we should take from this LESSON…

- God provides for us out of His compassion…

- We must worship God because of who he is…

-

This is what we should apply to our life from this lesson:

- I will worship God for who He is, not just for what He does...

- I will give praise and thanks giving no matter my situation…. [Psalms 150:6] ~ let everything that has breath praise the Lord…

- Jesus is WORTHY of my praise & worship

Apostle Paul said these words about Israel in…

Romans 1:18-24 (NLT) ~ 18 But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness.

19 They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them.

20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

21 Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.

22 Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools.

23 And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies.

[many today will follow or do only to get what’s in it for them]

But as soon as they are NOT getting what they want - or they are not getting something out of the matter - they show in there actions - it was only for what they could get…

It’s the same way we vote in our elections - we vote

on what we can get out of the politician to do for us…

Is there a Difference between worship & praise?

Scriptures for thought on this lesson…

There are many scriptures that tells us & shows us - that God is worthy of Worship & Praise without him doing anything for us…

The son of man [Jesus] teaches us regarding worship…

Matthew 4:8-10 ~ 8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Jesus said to the Samaritan women in…

John 4:23-24 ~ 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Notice David’s word about God…

Psalm 19:1-4 ~ 1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.

4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,

Psalm 95:6-7 ~ 6 come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.

7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,

Psalms 100:1-5 ~ 1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Again the UNDERSTANDING of this LESSON is…

- God provides for us out of His compassion…

- We must worship God because of who he is…

John 6:1-15 (AMP) ~ 1 After this, Jesus went to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (or Sea of Tiberias).

2 A large crowd was following Him because they had seen the signs (attesting miracles or proved they saw the miracles ) which He continually performed on those who were sick.

3 And Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down there with His disciples.

4 Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was approaching.

5 Jesus looked up and saw that a large crowd was coming toward Him, and He said to Philip, "Where will we buy bread for these people to eat?"

God had compassion on the multitude of people [Matthew 14:14-18]…

6 But He said this to test Philip, because He knew what He was about to do.

7 Philip answered, "Two hundred denarii (200 days' wages) worth of bread is not enough for each one to receive even a little."

8 One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to Him,

9 "There is a little boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what are these for so many people?"

10 Jesus said, "Have the people sit down [to eat]." Now [the ground] there was [covered with] an abundance of grass, so the men sat down, about 5,000 in number.

11 Then Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks, He distributed them to those who were seated; the same also with the fish, as much as they wanted.

12 When they had eaten enough, He said to His disciples, "Gather up the leftover pieces so that nothing will be lost."

13 So they gathered them up, and they filled twelve large baskets with pieces from the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten.

Focus verse…

14 When the people saw the sign (attesting miracle) that He had done, they began saying, "This is without a doubt the promised Prophet who is to come into the world!"

Deuteronomy 18:15 ~ prophecy thru Moses

At the end of the book of John Jesus had 70 disciples following & appeared to help him in the ministry… But in John 6:66-70…

many of them walked no more with them
